WikiProject Philippine LGUs[edit]

Wondering how to edit the article? The WikiProject Philippine LGUs could be of help. :)

Jim Burney[edit]

I removed the following text which had been inserted into the References section of the article:

And Australian citizens like Jim Burney can be gunned down and murdered with no mercy, completely defenseless, and the Manilan/Phillipines government treat us, the family of the victim, like trash. This event occured on Wednesday 26th May 2009. Please read the item at www.news.com.au or simply Google "Jim Burney". And to add insult to injury, WE, Jim's family have to pay to have our fathers body returned to his home country, instead of the government that she be held accountable for it's citizens actions. And we wonder why there are race riots and "hate crimes". The only difference is that my father, Jim Burney was drinking in a public place. Somewhere you imagine we are safe. This reeks and also reminds me of the Bali bombings. Just how safe are we in these Asian countries? And now Korea is detonating nukes of their own, in the name of 'self defense'. Something my father did not have the luxury of.

The news.com.au article can be seen here. That article said, "Investigators recovered the gun used in the killing and were still determining the motive behind the attack, DPA said." Other reports, with a bit more info, can be seen here, here, here, here, and probably elsewhere. There is a fairly long article here.

I live on Boracay island, which is in Aklan province. There has been much discussion about Jim's recent death in the expat community here. As far as I know, I never met Jim; I wish I had. I offer my condolences. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 02:28, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Col. Alejandro Melchor, Sr.[edit]

This recent edit adding material crediting Alejandro Melchor as "the inventor of pontoon bridge used by Allied Forces during World War II" provoked this comment from me after a bit of googling. I suggest here as well that this needs a second look. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 02:55, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

From First class to second class province?[edit]

According to the Economy section of this article, it's a first class province. However, upon visiting the reference link, it indicates that Aklan is 2nd class with only two first class municipalities. I haven't visited the page before so I'm not sure if it has always been like that or if Aklan has suddenly been degraded to a 2nd class? and for what reason? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TJ Reyes (talkcontribs) 11:39, 29 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
