Experience:

Immediately after college (first time!) I worked as a District Director of a federally funded health care program in the South Carolina's "low country." After the completion of the project (about two years), I worked as a Pharmaceutical Rep for ICI Americas, the fifth largest pharmaceutical industry in the world. My interest in computers caused me to seek a second undergraduate degree. I went to work for a software development company and left with one of the owners to form a separate company. The company marketed turnkey business management software, with contract programmers providing the customization of the tail end. Liability issues drove me to less risky employment in the computer resource center of Nestle's. I continued to study accounting as an important compliment to MIS, and elected to move to the accounting area (Managerial Accounting) when the proper incentive ($) was provided, contingent on my completion of an accounting degree.

My tenure with Gardner-Webb began when I moved from Nestle to assume the position of Comptroller at Gardner-Webb in 1988. About four years later, after completing 18 additional credit hours in accounting and obtaining the CPA, I moved to the faculty of GWU where I have remained ever since.
