Rank articles complete[edit]

I'm pleased to announce that the ranks in this article now have links to associated articles on every rank of the SA. -Husnock 30Jan05

Is the "Army equivalent" column supposed to reflect the Heer, or US/UK equivalents? either way, then the general-officer ranks are a step off due to Oberfuhrer. Solicitr (talk) 23:22, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ranks of Sturmbannführer and Obersturmbannführer[edit]

According to an article on the Flags of the World website (the URL is [1]), a Sturmbann was a battalion in the S.A. Hence, perhaps it would be more appropriate to translate the names of these ranks into English as "Battalion Leader" and "Senior Battalion Leader". -Christopher Crossley, 12.07 (UTC), 22 August 2005

Please see: Talk:Ranks and insignia of the Schutzstaffel for the answer to that question. -Husnock 15:43, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SA, SS, and Waffen SS[edit]

Where the ranks of the SA, SS, and Waffen SS essentially the same?

Insignia Pictures[edit]

Most of the pictures appear to have gutted from this article. I would like to start a project to get back. Suggestion on how to do this? -OberRanks (talk) 22:54, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rank equivalents[edit]

General-officer ranks in the Wehrmacht Heer were one notch lower than the cognate-named US/UK ranks. When the Bundeswehr was formed they kicked them each up a level, creating the new rank Brigadegeneral and retiring Generaloberst to bring the structure into line with NATO.--Solicitr (talk) 20:34, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Completely agree. One point of confusion revolves around that the SA had no equivalent to Oberstgruppenfuhrer. I updated the chart to reflect this. Also, within a week or two I should have an actual insignia chart for the final post 1934 rank insignia patches. -OberRanks (talk) 21:03, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge notice[edit]

The article appears to be a duplicate of Uniforms and insignia of the Sturmabteilung. We should merge. -OberRanks (talk) 21:09, 23 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SA headgear[edit]

It was no képi. Making and outlook is different, as can be seen. The German term for this type of headgear is de:Schaftmütze --2001:A61:2B09:B901:6830:5A63:8FA5:8EDE (talk) 10:04, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
