Lives with Father is the title of a 2015 book by Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson, as told to Variety reporter Clarence A. McManus.

The Simpsons skyrocketed to fame in the early 2000's and, like a skyrocket, exploded and fell swiftly to earth. The book relates how their trajectories were skilfully guided by their controlling father, Joe Simpson, who packaged and commercially exploited every aspect of their lives.

Ashlee retained a small fan base and continued to tour and perform through the end of the decade; however, as in the case of Judy Garland, some of her fans were only interested in seeing whether the emotionally fragile Ashlee would break down on stage.

Ironically, the book itself became famous only as a result of the actions of Joe Simpson, who unsuccessfully tried to suppress its publication because of the unflattering details it revealed about him and his relationships to his daughters.

The book sold 18,000 copies and was made into a docudrama which aired once on the Christian Family Cable Network.
