Motto[edit]

According to HMS Newcastle the Newcastle's motto is "Fortitudino Vinco", so should this appear in the infobox? -Wikibob | Talk 21:20, 2004 Apr 18 (UTC)

Commanding officers[edit]

Dear Sphilbrick,
I hope you are keeping well? You may remember our earlier exchange in August 2020. I am contacting you once again in your capacity as a member of the OTRS Team, after correcting two entries in the present article, where the table listing the commanding officers was in error, as it was missing Commander (now Captain, retired) Hugh Daglish, who commanded HMS Newcastle in 1989-1991. Captain Daglish is a personal friend of mine and therefore pointed out the error to me over the last few days. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide me with online evidence to use as a secondary source to justify the corrections, but has instead provided me with the following PDFs: 1) a photocopy of his certificate of command, confirming his tenure from 12 August 1989 to 30 July 1991, and 2) a photocopy of his short biography, as an information sheet prepared by the Royal Navy for distribution to members of the public who visited the ship. Captain Daglish also pointed out that his successor, Commander David Harburn, served from 1991 to 1993. Please could you provide me with an e-mail address at which I will send you these two documents, to help you decide whether or not my edits are deemed acceptable, per WP:COISELF? Thank you very much for your consideration.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(become old-fashioned!) 16:25, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am doing well, but I am very over-committed, and my Wikipedia involvement is taking a hit. Things might change by mid-October, but that's an optimistic hope. My to-do list is too long, and I'm not managing to fulfill requests I've already committed to, so I'm sorry to report than I cannot help at this time.S Philbrick(Talk) 01:00, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Sphilbrick,
Thank you for your prompt reply, but please don’t worry; I quite understand and hope that your workload will ease off before too long. I will ask another member of the OTRS team for assistance with this. Please keep well and safe.
With kind regards;

Dear Emufarmers,
I have seen your name in the list of OTRS Team members and would be grateful if you would review the above request and confirm wether or not you might be able to assist, in which case I would send you the two documents at the email address alongside your entry at WP:OTRS. Thank you for your consideration, and for letting me know of your intent.
With kind regards;

PS: It turns out that the above task has now become unnecessary after this edit by Lyndaship, who quite correctly pointed out in her edit summary that the article needed to adhere to WP:SHIPSNOTCREWS; one learns every day!
My apologies for causing unnecessary work, but thank you to all concerned.
With kind regards;
