Big board Geocities pages[edit]

Centronics Port[edit]

On the Xerox 820/820-II implementation of BigBoard, a Centronics port was not fully implemented. Instead there was a Zilog PIO (parallel) chip that was brought out to a row of header pins. A custom cable could be built using ribbon cable between a header plug and a Centronics connector, but there was a specific way to wire it up, more complicated than a straight through connection. MicroCornucopia[edit]

MicroCornucopia was magazine for the BigBoard (KayPro, Xerox 820, etc.) community published in Bend, Oregon. It featured useful hardware projects and ran ads for independent software and hardware developers. For example a 1MB RAMdisk interfacing with the KayPro's printer port was advertised. This was tremendously faster than floppy disks and even the hard disks of that era.

Once MS-DOS had virtually squashed CP/M, MicroCornucopia tried to reinvent itself with articles for the MS-DOS world, but couldn't make a go of that. User:DaveM Sept. 1, 2006

Ampro != Ampro[edit]
