Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Solo family

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Incorporates information from fan fic, apparently. It certainly doesn't come from the movies. RickK 04:58, Jun 30, 2004 (UTC)

There is a difference between fan fiction and the Expanded Universe. I'm certain all of the information in these entries would be confirmed at the offical Star Wars website. See the offical databank on characters for more information.

Keep- Organa Family. Undecided- Others. Organa family was not created by the user that created the other pages, and was an existing stub that was moved to The Organa family by the anon user. I moved it back to it's original page in accordance with the house style. I'm not very knowledgeable about Star Wars so I'll check the link and comment on the other articles later. If there is an expanded universe that has legitiamte sources; that info should not be mixed with movie canon, but be included in a seperate section. -JCarriker 06:48, Jun 30, 2004 (UTC)
Keep if verifiable. -Seth Mahoney 16:13, Jun 30, 2004 (UTC)
There already is information from the Expanded Universe in the Wikipedia. I beileve Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo and Anakin Solo already have pages. Most of the people from the Naberrie family apppeared in a deleted scene from Attack of the Clones that can be found on the DVD. Almost all of them are listed on the official website and those that aren't (Darred Janren and Winama Naberrie) are mentioned in the others entries. Mara Jade also has her own entry her. At the official site she is listed under Skywalker instead of Jade, in case you couldn't find it in the J's. It says in Beru's entry there that her maidan name is Whitesun and that Cliegg's former wife was Aika. Thracken Sal-Solo is listed in Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Characters and I think it mentions the other people from the Solo family in his entry as well. I think I've confirmed all the information for Skywalkers, Naberries, Solo and Lars family now.
  • Delete all: useless pseudoinformation. Complete waste of time & resources. Wile E. Heresiarch 23:49, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. For the non-Star Wars geeks, in addition to the canonical 5, soon to be 6 Star Wars movies, there is what is known as the "Expanded Universe," which primarily includes the Star Wars novels, but also some other stuff here and there. The expanded universe is considered canon for most purposes. These articles, it seems, come from those sources, which is why they're not in the movies. This is, obviously, totally different from fanfic, which has no canonical value, and cannot be taken as any sort of coherent whole. Snowspinner 18:40, Jul 1, 2004 (UTC)
  • I've seen some of these names in the novels I've read. If they're considered canonical, merge the family trees into existing articles where they can be of better use. They really are, IMO, a waste of time by themselves. - Lucky 6.9 19:30, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Utterly foolish as encyclopedic info. This is what dead trees are for. Denni 00:25, 2004 Jul 4 (UTC)
  • Merge with entries for Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, etc. Family trees can be an important part of a character's background Thesteve 15:13, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)
  • We could make it a kind of navigation bar for all the members of the family trees.
