Photographic memory

I don't think it was ever said in the film that Charles had photographic memory. From his depiction, it seems a typical case of high-functioning autism. Don Reba (talk) 15:30, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Statement to press

The final statement Charles makes to the press (that his friends died "saving his life") is not enigmatic or cryptic but rather an indication that he feels the survival experience he endured with Bob and Stephen profoundly changed him, and his outlook on life. Themes

The introductory scene in which Charles demonstrates his exceptional memory by revealing his knowledge of the rabbit/panther motif of the Cree indians ties into the final scene of the movie where Charles asks the resort owner, "Why is the rabbit unafraid?" and he replies smiling, "Because he's smarter than the panther." The rabbit represents Charles, the prey, and the panther represents (and partly foreshadows) the bear, who hunts the 3 men after crashing. Of the 3 Charles is most able to handle the situation and respond in an intelligent manner, due to the fact that he is much less fearful of the bear. Why? I would say that the "panther" represents Bob, who is the one that is really hunting Charles, and not the bear. Clearly Charles is far smarter than Bob. That is just my opinion. PNW Raven (talk)!

Plot to murder Charles

who all is in on killing charles?

Having seen the movie more than once, I am pretty sure Bob and Bob alone planned on killing Charles, and although Charles let Mickey know he was aware of her affair (or fling) with Bob, Charles believed that Mickey was not in on Bob's murder plan, and let everyone at the end believe that Bob died saving Charles' life. --Naaman Brown (talk) 07:41, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Striking section

I am striking this section: Character of Charles Morse Charles Morse is shown to be an extremely intelligent person with an amazing memory. He is kind of an introvert and it seems like he is a little bored in the start of this trip too as no one is giving him company. Bobs even taunts him in the end that the reason Charles is not killing him because Charles never had a buddy. He is aware that all the attention he is getting is because he is a wealthy man. When the motel owner start talking to him; he realises very quickly that the motel owner is looking for funding for his business idea. He is also shown to be well read regarding wide variety of topics including history, customs and wilderness. In the end it was his knowledge and determination that saves him while his friends could not survive. A running theme in the movie is regarding the Prey and Predator. Bear is hunting Charles but the he is smarter than the Bear. Similarly Bob wants to kill Charles for Mickey but Charles know it already and will fight back.

Not only is it poorly written both grammatically and structurally, it cites no sources to back any claims. This is not a plot summary but a personal opinion based on WP:OR and is not supported at WP for film analysis. Maineartists (talk) 12:26, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
