Systema and its rich history[edit]

WP:NOTFORUM
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Feel free to discuss the vast history of Systema which was created in the large-country of the Russian Federation, with it's massively rich culture and historical-significance. Systema is more then just a martial-art but a cultural expression and a spiritual-based foundation. Feel free to compare it to other martial arts and principles and delve deeper into the intricacy of Martial-Art/Culture infusion. • Like I said on the Mystery talk page, Wikipedia is not a forum. If you want to discuss anything other than improvements to the page (and they must be neutral and backed up with reliable sources), you will want to go to another website. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:18, 19 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because, for starts, this is not a "a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organized event." --Shawn in Montreal (talk) 16:54, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Systema" = "Systema Ryabko"[edit]

After "Systema Ryabko" was deleted in Russian Wikipedia, the dis page is only like that: [2] --Niemti (talk) 10:35, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Media Coverage" (unencyclopedic content)[edit]

It has gained notoriety as coverage of it has increased. This coverage seldom specifies which version of Systema is being discussed. Some examples are:

Why did you remove these sources. They show that systema has received independent coverage from multiple sources and help establish its notability. Papaursa (talk) 02:12, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's not "sources" (these are references), it's a list of badly written list of miscellaneous information. --Niemti (talk) 08:59, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. Some could be trimmed out - some could be moved to references proper but others fit just fine. Discovery channel is a perfect example of media coverage. A global delete is really not that helpful.Peter Rehse (talk) 14:41, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is all just trivia. I removed it. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 20:58, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

History please[edit]

Would be useful to know how old it is? Soviet or pre-revolutionary etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.78.15.204 (talk) 21:14, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's post-Soviet, didn't exist before. It's only very telling there's just no Russian version of this article. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 19:08, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
System was "created" about the same time as Sambo in the late 1930s. Created means that centuries old Kossak fighting techniques were consolidated and refined for special forces under the new name, while the Kosaks were banished aside church and Zar after the October Revolution 1917. Especially Stalin's life guards were wellkonwn for their Systema excellence. Btw, there is a (very telling) Kyrillic article, of course. -- 178.165.131.169 (talk) 10:25, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

How weird is it that a "Russian" martial art has pages in 21 languages but not in Russian? Since the Russian version was deleted 10 years ago. This article's history reeks of WP:PROMOTION and WP:COI. I checked out the other languages and they just look like copies of this article at different stages. My own search leads me to believe that this subject fails WP:GNG and WP:MANOTE. It seems like it only exists because it was created back when IPs were able to start articles, meaning standards were much lower. Spagooder (talk) 18:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
