re:[edit]

Hello! I have a question or two... I understand how to 'add a new page' when clicking on a link that brings you to a 'this page doesnt exist' page. But I cant figure out how to create a new article out of nothing, and place it in a category? Im lost! --Hawks9718 23:16, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)

There are two ways of doing it. Either create the link in your own user space so that you can start the article from there and then remove the link again afterwards, or replace the article name of the page you're currently on (in the website address bar) with the article name that you want to create. In any case this will create an orphaned article, which should only be a temporary measure: all articles should be linked to from at least one other article in Wikipedia.
In future you can ask any question you like either at the village pump or on someone else's talk page (here's mine). I only happened to look here on the offchance and your question may have gone unanswered. -- Francs2000 | Talk [[]] 23:21, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ArkansasRiverblades.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ArkansasRiverblades.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
