Can anyone give a decent translation of this name into English? --Soman 11:55, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'll try. Mena is a rather complex device for spinning hemp fiber, a heavier version of the spinning wheel. Callosa de Segura, the Valencian town where the party is based, was the leading production centre of hemp rope and fabric in Spain during most of the 20th century. The menadores are the skilled workers that operate the spinning wheels; I suppose they were important enough a bunch to have their own group splinter off the PCE. Unfortunately, I don't think spinners would make the cut. Perhaps somebody more familiar with the textile business than I would know what to call 'em. Taragui 16:38, May 4, 2005 (UTC)
