Hello, I've noticed you've added at least a few of these "superhuman abilities" sections to articles on comic book characters and I've noticed a couple problems. One, I wonder where the original source of this text comes from—it appears as if you have copied and pasted it from somewhere else, because it suddenly shows up whole without any formatting (such as wiki links). Two, you've added it to articles that already describe the characters' powers, but in some cases at least you have not tried to integrate it into the article as a whole. Any comments? Thanks! I haven't copied anything out of any of text that I'm aware of. I've read some books within the past that've discussed the various powers of these characters, but the words I've used to describe them have been my own. I've added some things to the section that's devoted to the superhuman abilities of the characters that I've observed from reading comic books in which the characters appear. I suppose that part of the reason it could be assumed that I copy the words out of a text is because of the amount of detail I often mention. That's simply not the case. During high school, I was taught that detail could often mean the difference between getting a passing grade on an assignment and a failing one. I include lots of detail in the things that I write, or as much detail as I can think of at the time, partially out of habit. For example, I recently added added a few sentences to the "superhuman powers" section of the "Sabretooth" article detailing how his ability to heal himself can't keep up with ongoing tissue deterioration. That isn't written in any text that I know if, it's an observation based upon something that I read in an issue of "Wolverine" when I was about 13 years of age. Some consider it just rambling on, and that's their opinion. I feel that an encyclopedia article, whether it be online or printed in a text, should provide the reader with as much information on the subject as possible, as long as it doesn't violate any copyright laws. If I have committed some violaions however, I assure you that they're unintentional and I would very much appreciate knowing what they are so I can avoid making the same mistake in the future. Thanks very much:)
Thanks for responding. No, as long as you did write it yourself, you haven't violated any policies. There's nothing wrong with detail, though I worry about overkill in these cases. Just try to keep an eye out for how well your contribution fits into the existing article, and think about how you might edit it to make it flow better. Thanks! Postdlf 05:46, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
