Help w/BiNet USA[edit]

As per some previous suggestions on how to work on articles made by Liberatore, this page is being worked on here to bring it up to spec for wikipedia CyntWorkStuff

In response to Wikipedia editor Aaron Brenneman's comments, I picked an American LGBT Civil rights organization's entry as a template, did further research on and then re-worked the BiNet USA entry in what I hope is a well researched, appropriately cited, "encyclopedic tone".

Further assistance on same would be most welcome, especially looking for a list of the founders, names of previous Board members and dates of service. Also need more info. including dates, etc. on on BiNet USA working relationship w/National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and their role in the "Creating Change" conferences.

Technical note regarding some citations. Since BiNet USA was an early adopter of the concept of electronic activism, it's website is written in what is now considered an archaic fashion (w/frames) making it difficult to link to exact sections (such as "Mission Statement") of the site. I have been told by people more familiar with the organization that BiNet USA has recently gotten a grant for a rewrite. Intend to keep a watch and will update links when this happens. Twitter Account[edit]

I'd like to add that the Twitter account does seem affiliated with the website. A link can be reached through the binetusa.org page by following About Our Group (in the header menu) > Group Blogs > Binet blog archives 2009- . On that page, right sidebar, exists a link to the twitter account in question. At the time of writing this, however, the twitter account itself appears to have been deleted. This article (https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2020/04/group-threatening-legal-action-demanding-payment-use-bisexual-pride-flag/) which is already listed as a citation refers to the twitter account as "the organization’s official account". UserNameinski and StereoBucket thank you for connecting the dots between https://twitter.com/BiNetUSA (now deleted) and https://twitter.com/thefayth. She unequivocally takes ownership: "To be clear this is an executive action I made as #BiNet President and remain in conversation with our board." Accordingly, I am persuaded that today's controversial tweets from @BiNetUSA do indeed represent the organization BiNet USA, and I won't interfere with any more edits to the article space. The org president @TheFayth and the former Twitter account were cross-referencing each other up until the deletion and she is now referencing the new handle @BiNetCollective which the original said it would move to after deletion Maivea (talk) 23:32, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Board Member, Lauren Beach, commented publicly on her twitter saying that she was not consulted regarding this action and that the board is now in dialogue with the president, Faith Cheltenham. I'd like to write down a small update here for future reference to help anyone writing an update to this situation. Faith Cheltenham has released a statement on BiNet USA's blog that was prepared by the board. Former president, Wendy Curry, has made a statement on her facebook page regarding the situation. She stated that the copyright was held by Michael Page, which was later handed over to bi cafe. A twitter account with her name (I have no info on whether this account is indeed held by her) said that BiNet USA is not correct about her being involved in the flag's creation. Additionally, another member of the board, Juba Kalamka, has posted the blog post to their twitter.
