I've played, officiated and coached academic competition since I was 13 years old -- I founded two college teams, expanded two high school teams (one as a player and as a a coach) and currently direct the Virginia High School League's Scholastic Bowl competition. In 1999-2000, I wrote the entire competition, drawing questions from every subject.

I'm 28, and married to a lovely woman named Rebecca. I work as a UNIX sysadmin and augment my income by writing academic competition questions. I live in Arlington, Virginia, which is right across the Potomac River from Washington, DC.
