France Cert.[edit]

The Certifications, peaks and sales shows that France has achieved Diamond yet it only has 3xplatinum. Correct me on this but doesn't 10xPlatinum make diamond?--DoctorStrange7 (talk) 19:21, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't trust the info on the article, it was vandalized several times. The certification levels change in each country, 10xplatinum in the U.S. make diamond, in France you get diamond with 500,000 copies or 5xplatinum. This is the page with the certifications for each country, List of music recording sales certifications. Hope this helps you. Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 19:31, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Certification levels[edit]

We should not insert those music markets into the table of Certifications, the levels of which are unclrear for a 1996 release. In this recent edit, Coolcoolmen16 has added 2x Platinum for Hong Kong (30,000 units), and 2x Platinum for Portugal (40,000). Note that in this 2005 IFPI report (see page 23), the Platinum level of Hong Kong for international artists is 20,000 units, whereas the platinum level for Portugal is 40,000units. The certification levels of both those markets could have been higher in 1996 as most music associations began lowering their certification-levels in late 1990s and early 2000s. Therefore, since we don't know the exact levels for some markets, we should not introduce incorrect information as this is afterall encylopedia.--Harout72 (talk) 18:31, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
