This information is basically all in Oskar von Hutier, and I suggest that this just be a redirect to that page. But:

Oskar von Hutier says "A short artillery bombardment, featuring heavy shells mixed with numerous poison gas projectiles would concentrate on neutralizing the enemy front lines, but not to destroy them."

Hutier tactics says "Unlike regular trench warfare the bombardment was not directed at the frontlines. Rather it was directed at the rear areas. To destroy roads, artillery etc."

Which is correct? --Stormie 04:04, May 19, 2004 (UTC)

I've also read that Hutier didn't devise the tactics, just adopted them for widescale use on the Western Front. It was the British and French who called them "Hutier tactics" because it was Hutier's army that was using them. I agree this article can redirect to the Oskar von Hutier page, perhaps creating a separate section on the topic. Geoff/Gsl 04:54, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, on second thoughts, if he isn't actually the creator of the tactics, perhaps the reverse should be applied and this article should have all the information. Geoff/Gsl 06:59, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Oskar von Hutier (and his staff) did invent these tactics on the Eastern Front in 1915.
