Proposed move[edit]

See the naming conventions (especially "use common names"). information center gets three times as many Google hits as "Alternative information centre. If you put it in quotations the different is even more dramatic: 617 hits for one and 27,100 for the other. This isn’t a "British/American" issue as much as it is a common-usage issue. --Neutralitytalk 15:24, Mar 3, 2005 (UTC)

  • Oppose - This is a British vs. American spelling issue. Your Google results are "tainted" by a number of Alternative Information Center (proper name) results. This article references establishments in England, so it is appropriate to keep the British spellings. -- Netoholic @ 15:27, 2005 Mar 3 (UTC)
  • (oppose) -- Philip Baird Shearer 16:07, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose - The fact that the article was initially written with the British spelling should be enough to prevent Americanizing it. Add on the fact that it appears to deal with a largely British phenomenon and it becomes a no-brainer. --Aranae 16:58, Mar 3, 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose for reasons noted above by others. violet/riga (t) 19:51, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose Seems to fail the domain test (British scope), the most common use test, and the first major contribution test, all at once. (I know it's not a 'major article' at all, but it's not as if someone's doing a clearly-relatively-major expansion and changing the language convention in the process; this is just changing that, and nothing else.) • Strongly Oppose. In fact, I would go so far as to accuse Neutrality of arbitrarily changing grammar and spelling (systemically and in mass quantities) in reckless disrespect for previous editors. Wereon 20:30, Mar 6, 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose We don't normally change article titles or copy to a different regional English spelling. But if a UK-based subject was titled in U.S. English, then I would vote to change it. Michael Z. 2005-03-8 17:41 Z

Decision after 5 days: retain current title. violet/riga (t) 20:53, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
