ASMS[edit]

I merged content from ASMS, according to its VfD. --Deathphoenix 18:28, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

If the consequence of ASMS deletion was to be a merger with this article, then there should also have been a notice placed here. Perhaps that is something VfD should consider in future deletions.--Cyberjunkie 07:21, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Infobox[edit]

I realise that the new infobox has been used for other Australian universities, and that it is somewhat of a standard, but I prefer the previous version. It was a neater presentation of facts, and, I think, aesthetically nicer. Perhaps I should seek to establish that version as the standard, unless others believe it possesses no benefits.--Cyberjunkie 13:30, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Article Name[edit]

Should not this artile be named "The Flinders University of South Australia", as this is the offical name of the university. Bartimaeus 02:48, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We generally use common names; Flinders University is how it is generally referred to, AFAIK. Ambi 05:41, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, there is a note about the whole name. I've never actually heard it referred to by the official name. riana 08:15, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re: photographs requested[edit]

there are many photographs on the university website. being a new wikipedian, i'm unsure about how these images fit in with the encyclopedia's policies in copyrights and fair use. perhaps a more experienced user could take the time to upload some photographs. otherwise, i could always sneak around uni on a friday arvo and take pics on a digicam. it may look creepy, but i won't have violated any rules. hehehe riana 06:24, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It would be fantastic if you could do that. The images on the university's website are indeed copyright and cannot be used on Wikipedia unless the university releases them to us under an appropriate licence. You might like to draw inspiration from the shots they have though ;-). --cj | talk 06:51, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was joking! But who knows, uni break is coming up, I might get bored and have a go at it. :p It's a pity, cuz the photos on the homepage are really nice... mine won't be as good as that. riana 08:13, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The photo from the hill, just like the one on the Flinders website, is out of date because it contains the plaza as it was before it was renovated.Nam3witha3init 04:56, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GLBTTIQQFP[edit]

Please expand the GLBTTIQQFP acronym, or better, replace it. Every year a new set of letters seems to get tagged onto the end, so what originally was GLBT has now become something ridiculous. There is no need whatsoever to name each particular subset of queer-identifying; just call it that, or queer. MachiavellianMeow (talk) 00:23, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it as vandalism [1] Michellecrisp (talk) 00:26, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of irrelevant content and old information[edit]

Declaration of COI: Flinders Communications is an account created to make suggestions and small factual edits to articles relevant to Flinders University.

Have removed the 'official crest' as this was Flinders' old logo. Flinders University does not have an official crest, as stated in Section 4A of the Flinders University Act 1966.

The mascot and Latin name were also removed as these also do not exist.

Changes were also made to the Campuses section to reflect the opening of Flinders' new city campus on North Terrace, and to remove mention of Flinders' presence on North Terrace. Flinders Communications (talk) 03:29, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The coat of arms is the old logo, per https://www.flinders.edu.au/brand/story. I'll change the image caption accordingly. —C.Fred (talk) 03:46, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have updated the caption to reflect that this is no longer the coat of arms or logo (1966 to 2022) Flinders Communications (talk) 04:04, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
