The Pelican Record[edit]

There is also a Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

See http://www.ccc.ox.ac.uk/

This is the source of some confusion. I have been looking for an old obituary in "The Pelican Record", identified as the magazine of "Corpus Christi College".

Wouldn't you know that Corpus Christi College, Cambridge has a Pelican logo on its home page? (http://www.corpus.cam.ac.uk/)

However it appears that the Pelican Record is the magazine of Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

Clarification from Oxford, Cambridge, or knowledgeable outsiders would be welcome. Thanks.

--Ralph Blanchette

CCC Cambridge also has a magazine, sent mainly to alumni, called the pelican with the 'modern' pelican logo as seen on the website.

If you are looking for obituaries from Corpus, Cam, , the place to look is the newsletter of the Corpus Association (Should be available from the College). The pelican is a much trendier publication, dealing with more recent events.

Sources Needed??[edit]

Do you really need verifiable sources for the bits of student lore near the bottom of the page? Most of them are well-known among Corpuscles, but you'd have a hard job finding any of them in print.

Yes, you do need them. See WP:V. 81.168.22.81 00:29, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well you quite frankly ain't likely to get 'em, 81.168.22.81|81.168.22.81.

If that's the case, I'll remove some of the more questionable things in a little while. 81.168.22.81 14:29, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As per this discussion, I've removed many of the unsourced statements, especially those which appear unverifiable by reliable sources.. this decision was inspired by Wikipedia:No reliable sources, no verifiability, no article. If these statements are reinstated with no sources, I will probably remove them again. 131.111.8.99 11:40, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oddities not Trivia[edit]

The injunction against 'trivia' implies that information should be left out when it is trivial. But, in the case of this section, the information is not at all trivial. Rather, it is intrinsic to the College's identity to itself and to the world, indicative of its culture, and exactly the sort of information people want to read about a College when they look for it in the Encyclopaedia. Indeed most, if not all, of this information is included in any good book on the College, and a substantial proportion of it can be found on the official College website. One might quibble with the presentation of the information in a bullet list but, to be perfectly honest, the only way to change this would be to put it into a rather disordered paragraph which would greatly complicate the process of adding more of these interesting facts. I would argue that the 'trivia' tag should be removed from the section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dreadnought1906 (talkcontribs) 14:07, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Overhaul[edit]

Right, I've given the page a bit of an overhaul adding much more information and trying to reference as much as I can at the moment. I'll start adding pictures and a section of life in the college soon. Dedalus25 (talk) 03:41, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some great stuff - it really needed all the history and more stuff from Rackham's (Leg-end) research. I've cleaned it up a touch, making it more readable (flow). Thanks (I was 95.151.209.9 - now I have a name)

Thanks Floreat, (I assume that's your new name) the clean up was much needed, just after expanding the article 10 fold I thought someone else should have the pleasure. Now, how do we get this articles's rating reassessed...Dedalus25 (talk) 10:14, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Pictures[edit]

Although I commend McAnt for adding pleasant, copyright-free photos and I see their intrinsic benefit to illustrate a beautiful place that many people will never be able to see, can we make sure that any additional pictures go into the new 'Gallery' section as any more within the text will simply swamp the article - it is not long enough to have a photo for every item mentioned. FloreatAntiquaDomus 17:04, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

I completely agree with you, Floreat, that the article probably has more pictures than it should, which is why I moved some of them to the Gallery section. I think, though, that it would probably be best to refrain from adding many more to that section, either. The Manual of Style is quite clear that gallery sections shouldn't just become repositories for as many pictures as one cares to put there. Pictures should really only be added to the gallery if they enhance the article in some particular way. Groundsquirrel13 (talk) 18:16, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Corpus Christi College New Court, Cambridge, UK - Diliff.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on February 13, 2016. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2016-02-13.
