It's good to be da King vs. It's good to be the king[edit]

I believe it is It's good to be the king not It's good to be da King. Can anyone verify this with the movie's closed captioning? Misterrick 23:50, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

The line "It's good to be da King" is along the same line as Yogurt's "Ya hoyda me?" from Spaceballs. It's simply Mel Brooks delivering the line with an exaggerated Yiddish accent. I don't believe there is a pritned adaptation of this film. You're more likely thinking ofSir Walter Raleigh's book, "The History of the World, Part 1" (the rest of which he never finished) on which the title of the movie is sardonically based.--Dark Green (talk) 10:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There actually was a book-of-the-film, a slender paperback, with a Flexi disc of The Inquisition Song. Dance?[edit]

This is a long shot but, does anyone know the name of the dance done by Gregory Hines when he trying to pass himself off as a jew?

Corridor gag in French Revolution not a matte painting[edit]

I deleted the line "This is even used as a joke when the 'King' tries to run down a corridor, only to find that it is a matte painting" from the matte painting entry in the trivia section. The corridor gag incorporates a different set design trick called forced perspective. This is evident as Brooks is able to run partway down the corridor, and appears to get larger as he does so. The same gag is used in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory before the group enters the chocolate river room. Justin The Claw 17:45, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect sentence RE: History of the World, Part II[edit]

"The end of the film presents a mock teaser trailer for History of the World, Part II, narrated by Brooks, which promises to include Hitler on Ice, a Viking funeral, Jews in Space, and a parody of Star Wars."

"Jews in Space" was the Star Wars parody. Mock trailer left out/shortened in Germany[edit]

The mock trailer for HOTW Part II is either completely left out or shortened (most times only showing the Viking funeral) when aired on German TV for unknown reasons.
