Hi. I *AM* Easter Bradford. I was recently pointed here by a friend. This is a buch of crap, really, and since "Orthogonal" has been the most vocal "anti-Easter-Bradford" person I figure this is the best place to post.

Despite your insistance that I was attempting to promote myself, I simply copied my own industry biography and pasted it here for an entry. Farbeit for me to decide, but I figured I had contributed enough to the world to be entered.

As far as I am concerned, I would prefer that the entirety of entires about me including talk pages simply be removed. I will be taking that action shortly. Obviously I am "famous" enough to have people gossiping, and I'm afraid I cannot allow any part of my reputation to be sullied because there is a message board (of any nature) being used to discuss me in untruth.

Apology from Dandrake

Dear Ortho: ACKKK! Some kinda malignant freaking edit-conflict there. Muchos apologies. I don't know what happened, except that there was some kinda visible glitch in the update process, and I'm sort of tempted to blame the recent cache problems that have the primary symptom of always requiring me (and some others) to do a control-reload in order to see one's new changes (and some other cases of invisible changes that I can't categorize precisely). Whatever the cause, I'll do even more control-reloads now. And double-check diffs after anything that looks peculiar. Dandrake 01:36, Feb 17, 2004 (UTC)

It's "orthogonal", not "Ortho", please. Hey, things happen, it was pretty clear once I started looking that it was an accident. When a Wiki page gets long -- as VfD often does -- some browsers can't accommodate the full length as editable text. I'm using Firefox, and having no problems. As it's available for many OSes, you might want to consider giving it a try if you're not using it already, to see if it eliminates any problems for you. orthogonal 01:50, 17 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Hi orthogonal. I never meant to upset you and I apologise if you have felt put out by this. I think we may have had conflicting goals on VfD last night.

I'm well aware you were working on VfD then but I spent an hour and a half trying to reduce the page size so having such a long notice went completely against my aims to reduce a 114kb page to a 40kb one. I'm sorry if you felt it was more important fot the notice to stay than I did, but the chances are those people affected would not have seen the notice anyway before someone removed it completely. There were enough arguments over whether or not we should have the VfD boilerplate notice on VfD, so something as large as your message would have been removed very quickly. Perhaps you should have contacted the people concerned rather than having a notice on an already too large page.

Your notice was there for the entire hour you closed VfD, so it's unfair to say I removed it after 15 minutes. It didn't seem a relevant thing to have it there after you had finished working on it. I trusted that you had completed sorting out the edit conflicts, and didn't see any advantage to telling everyone this. If anyone's comments had gone astray, they would have gone to the talk page anyway, and seen your message there. Also, once I had finished reducing the page size, it would be quite unlikely anyone would have been able to check for anything missing anyway, so leaving the notice there after two-thirds of the page had been removed seemed largely of no use.

I'm not trying to discount your work here. Sorting out that mess was a great thing to do. The point is that I trusted you had done that well, so there was no need to worry about telling people.

I realize I could have edited the pointer to the talk page better now, but at the time I had been awake for 20 hours and it wasn't really the most important thing on my mind. Sorry.

Angela, it's just a matter of showing others the respect you'd hope they'd accord you.

There's a certain type of passive-aggressive person who basically says, "I work so hard for <the organization> that I can't bother to slow down to be polite and consider others' feelings. What I'm doing is too important to be impeded by mere politeness."

You are completely misinterpreting what I have said. I'm not saying what I did was more important - I'm saying that once half the page had gone, it would be practically impossible for anyone to check whether the edit conflict had affected them anyway. This doesn't mean you shouldn't have sorted it out, it means that once you had, people have to trust that you did it right as it isn't possible for them to check it. I fail to see how moving your comment is being impolite. I thought your complaint was that people might not notice it, not that it was offensive for it to be removed. I'm guessing from the image of the new skin you've posted that you don't have the font Verdana installed. That's just a guess; if I'm right, you can override the font choice or install Verdana. If I'm wrong maybe someone will have a better guess. :) - Nunh-huh 09:07, 31 May 2004 (UTC)

No, that's the thing, I do have it installed. And just to be certain, I've just tested that by making Verdana my defualt serif font in Firefox. The new look still looks bad. orthogonal 09:25, 31 May 2004 (UTC)

Oh dear god. Part of the problem seems to be that I prefer a "descresed text size" for Wikipedia; otherwise Wikipedia's font size in teh new version is much larger tnan other web pages. But at the smaller size, the new look doesn't work well, and textarea vboxes (for editting) suck.orthogonal

I'm in OK shape (I only had to increase the text size to make it readable) but soon I hope there will a gallery of what people have done with thier style sheets and how to do it yourself.... -- Nunh-huh 09:44, 31 May 2004 (UTC)
