Weapons Stub Stuff[edit]

I am rather offended as a Paintballer that this is under weapons, see the quote at the bottom of the page... Paintball markers arent weapons.

This weapon article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Autococker&action=edit).

I just removed the weapons stub. The article isn't too bad, but if somebody feels that it needs more, feel free to readd the stub (just not the weapons one). I agree that paintball markers are not weapons, and don't even share much functional similarity with real guns, and as such do not belong with weapons stubs. Kobold 01:29, 4 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Broken link for 4-way valve cite[edit]

"The second component is the 4-way valve (this is typically mistaken for a 3-way valve because it has 3 visible ports, however this is technically incorrect), " This link seems to be brokin, when you click it, it just reverts you to the same site. Also this information is incorrect, i only say this because the manufacturer, other retailers, licenced airsmiths, and autococker enthusiests alike all call this the 3-way. Although retailers and airsmiths are not reliable sources, the manufactuer (worr games products, who deems it a 3-way in sales and in schematics) and factory certified airsmiths are reliable.

It's broken because part of the Wayback Machine is down right now. I'm going to move it to a more reliable site as soon as their site comes back up. In the meantime, here's another reference: http://www.pbnation.com/archive/index.php/t-18846.html
So yeah, you can call it a 3-way, but pneumatically speaking, it's a 4-way. Kobold 01:53, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

glen palmer bit[edit]

Someone said something about bringing this up here, to see if anyone can verify this.

I've heard that Glen Palmer invented the first "autococker."

Now then, I dont own one, nor do I own any of Palmer's products, so no, it is not my opinion that he did. I've just seen it argued. I am however, too lazy to look for proof.

If anyone is interested, go for it.

Glen invented/produced the first "three way" (really a two way) valve so important to the 'cocker. Look at the Squall or Hurricane and you can see it.

Glenn Palmer invented the first autococking pump action marker, so yes he invented the autococker. The design is still present in the Blazer.

So... why are we still giving credit to bud orr?

_________________ Glenn Palmer claims he developed the first working autococking design, although Bud denies this or any influance it had on his design. Glenn has made public his version including dates and facts to back up his side. Bud has not. At best, this gives weight to glenns claims, but it is inconclusive —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.151.19.249 (talk) 18:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy subsection[edit]

I just registered and am pretty new at this wikipedia stuff, but I've been an avid reader for sometime. I'm also a relatively experienced paintballer and especially a fan of the autococker. I agree with previous comments that this page could use a good cleaning-up and revamping, especially given the iconic status this marker holds in the paintball community.

I'm thinking that a discrete section discussing claims about the accuracy of the marker would be useful. I know that huge debates have raged in the paintball forums regarding the inherent accuracy of the autococker (vs. paint-to-barrel fit), and I believe that at least one paintball review site (WARPIG?) has done a semi-scientific test.

I have also seen several animated diagrams on various forums that show how the autococker's inner workings... well, work.

Any thoughts?

major changes[edit]

Added much more detail to Operation section, added Timing, Accuracy, and Criticism sections. Cleaned up most of the grammar and syntax, added lots more links. Donutmonger 19:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Line[edit]

I removed the line "This is a mechanism unique to the Autococker." from the "Criticisms > Short-Stroking:" section as the same mechanism is used on Palmer's markers as well. Nothing huge or major, just a minor edit for accuracy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.242.183.234 (talk) 03:00, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
