The picture shows a American-Australian style crossbuck with its background colour changed from white to yellow, and its words changed to symbols.
The yellow background makes the sign closer to the European style crossbuck.
The yellow arguably makes the sign easier to sign. Indeed all other hazard signs contain some red or yellow or both.
Since the crossbuck shape is unique and incorporates a "cross", the symbols for road and rail might be omitted some of the time.
Words on Signs[edit]
The "Stop" sign is the only octagonal (eight sided) sign, and once you know the meaning of one sign you know them all.
If a country has several languages, there would be insufficiant room to label all stop signs with all languges, but it would be all right to pick two out of say three for any signs. That way road user become familiar with all languages.
