Comment[edit]

"Boeing blew up" may not be the best choice of words (in the introduction). Perhaps "Boeing became furious"? Typometer (talk) 01:11, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Birthname[edit]

Just wondering here, was he born William Boeing, or was he born Wilhelm Böing? The text suggests his father was named Wilhelm Böing, and never states what William's original name was, until it mentions him anglicizing it.83.233.216.105 (talk) 02:24, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Concur. He could well have been born "William Edward Böing". We need a reilable source that specifically say s he was born "Wilhelm Eduard Böing". His first and middle names may have already been anglicized, as was common for many American-born children of European immigrants of that time period. My grandfather's parents also emigrated from Germany to the US in the late 1800s/early 1900s, and to my knowledge his name was always spelled William, even though he had an obviously German surname. - BilCat (talk) 21:31, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I haven't found any evidence that he was born anything other that William Edward Böing, so I added a need citation template to that part of the sentence. Thellomerca (talk) 17:35, 11 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Removed, as it was still unsourced after 2 and a half years. - BilCat (talk) 02:46, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
