Orbost Line[edit]

Isn't this line called the Orbost Line, not the Bairnsdale Line? The latter, as far as I was aware is the name of the operational line - and as such the line diagram should be on that page. Is this the case? JRG 23:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well we currently have 3 overlapping articles, this one, the Gippsland railway line, Victoria and the Orbost railway line, Victoria. I think we need to crop it back to 2 only. Personally, even though the Gippsland article says it encompasses the whole region of lines, I think that should focus on the line to Orbost and the Orbost stub be incorporated into that. The Gippsland railway line article is supposed to be about all the lines in the gippsland area main line and any branch lines, then after that each seperate line has an article on it, so the gippsland line page gives a breif history on each line then with a link to the full article, bairnsdale and orbost are two seperate lines in gippsland so each should have their own article then be covered in the main gippsland article, does this make more sense? --Dan027 11:28, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point but this is not what Rail transport in Victoria#Gippsland line is implying and this links to Gippsland railway line, Victoria. There is a separate section on there for the South Gippsland line. Also that article should be renamed Gippsland railway lines (plural). Nomadtales 01:22, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From Talk:Gippsland railway line, Victoria[edit]

There is no railway called the "Gippsland Railway" or a line called the "Gippsland Railway line". The writing style of this article is bad and it is riddled with errors (i.e: RFR upgrades won't be completed until 2005) and does not fit in with the others railways in Victoria pages (see: List of regional railway stations in Victoria) which are categorised by line, not area. All the information on this page is confusing as it talks about multiple unrelated lines as being all linked to eachother. I vote it should be deleted. Somebody in the WWW 23:28, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The article needs abit of work, most of this information is usefull. at the moment im working on the South Gippsland Line after im finished there im planing on moving onto the "gippsland" line, anyone with any piece of information or pictures post it here first, cheers --Dan027 08:30, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merger?[edit]

Would anybody oppose merging Traralgon railway line, Victoria with Bairnsdale railway line, Victoria, or both into the Orbost railway line, Victoria article? The one railway line doesn't need five articles (including the Pakenham and Dandenong triplification ones), and the Traralgon/Bairnsdale articles are just a basic list of stations which passenger services run to and some basic details. --Somebody in the WWW (talk) 09:22, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
