old merger stuff[edit]

How does this article relate to Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut? john k 05:04, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

According to one comment in this article, Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut = the city of Milford, Connecticut + the borough of Woodmont, Connecticut. - Nunh-huh 05:11, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

That's true, woodmont is a borough of Milford. How do I merge articles? Crocodilicus 03:03, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

gone with the wind?[edit]

"Movies filmed in Milford
Full-length feature and documentary movies filmed at least in part in Milford, in reverse chronological order:
Save the Forest (2005)
Daylight (1996)
Gone with the Wind (1939)"
I know it's listed on IMDB (and, as a result, copied a million other places) but can anyone actually explain this bizarre location? I grew up in Milford and never heard a thing about this - if it was true, I would have expected an annual parade and Scarlett costume contest. It makes no sense to me that a 1939 movie set in Georgia and mainly shot in Culver City and various Southern California ranches would choose a Yankee harbor town as a good spot to do some location shooting... but where does this error originate??

I belive that the "Gone with the Wind" page refers to New Milford, CT - a different town as we all know. I had added a link for an MSNBC page (MSNBC/CT Post Top Stories) which tried to clear this all up, but that page is now gone - I removed it from the page. I also noticed that the "Gone with the Wind" film locations at IMDB no longer refers to a location in Connecticut - so maybe that was a mistake on their part from the get go. I too have heard it was filmed in New Milford, CT. regardless such a cool fact for CT to have under its belt! Robertforleo3 (talk) 03:32, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I read a local library book that Milford may have been one of many locations where photos might have been used as a basis for building sets used in the movie but were not where filming was done. I forgot which building might have had a resemblance to something seen in the background.22yearswothanks (talk) 16:36, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image:MilfordCTseal3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:23, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Traditional New England town ambiance?[edit]

What the Hell does that Mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.93.188 (talk) 04:12, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the assertion in the lede was not encyclopedic. I removed the following from the lede: "The city has grown noticeably over the years, including rapid revitalization of the downtown and retail growth along Route 1, and today Milford faces the typical modern issue of deciding how much land to develop and how much to keep natural, especially in light of the city's location at the mouth of the Housatonic River. Laws favoring the preservation and restoration of older homes have helped maintain a traditional New England town ambiance." In general, the article should be maintained to keep only encyclopedic, relevant information, to avoid a promotional tone, and to keep only sourced assertions if there is any doubt on factual accuracy. --doncram 13:35, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review
