You say "always transliterated into English as R". Can you make sure what this is opposed to by saying, "always transliterated as R, never as..." to make sure you know what people might expect?? 66.245.107.126 19:31, 22 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

hard or soft consonant?[edit]

is P considered a hard or soft consonant? im wondering whether, for spelling issues, if i should make a word begin like "Pэ" (if P = hard consonant) or like "Pe" (if P = soft consonant)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.35.177.189 (talk) 17:26, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's not quite how the Cyrillic alphabet works. P represents both a hard consonant and a soft consonant. It all depends on the following vowel so that if it's а, it's hard and if it's е then it's soft.
