Untitled[edit]

The part that I wrote about opposition to Route 8 in Cuyahoga Falls came out of my head. Parts came from my aunt but I don't know where other parts came from. That section could stand proper references.

North end of Route 8[edit]

It is unclear to me where the Route 8 ends in the north. I hear it goes to Cleveland, but when I have followed it it the signs seem to disappear after the intersection with Van Aken in Shaker Heights. It doesn't show up north of there on the maps that I have checked, either. John Simpson's page says it is superceded by Route 422, but he uses the word "superceded" in other situations where two route numbers are used at once, so I'm not sure what to make of that.

I found the answer to my own question. Using the TomTom map in my Palm I followed Route 8 all the way up to Public Square via Ontario. --Beirne 17:41, Feb 1, 2005 (UTC)

Moulton Highway[edit]

I found this name whilst doing research on the Akron Innerbelt. Here is a link proving it...http://ultraskuzzi.co.uk/07101970.gif I'm not sure if the entire highway can be attributed to have this name or just the freeway portion.

I don't think the name stuck. I live in the Falls where it has been known as the Ackerman Freeway (http://home.att.net/~imsys/sig_int.htm), although that name has fallen out of use. I'm guessing they both could be listed as historical names for the Cuyahoga Falls part rather than an official current name. What Route 8 does seem to be called is the Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (http://www.ohhighways.com/exits/I77exits.html). I saw a sign to the effect yesterday coming down from I-271. --Beirne 23:26, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

I-380 proposed[edit]

The director of the local metropolitan planning organization, Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study, has proposed I-380 as a designation for 8 northward to I-271, even going so far as to contact the local Ohio DOT office about it.

Granted this would have to be further forwarded from ODOT to FHWA then approved by them before anything could be considered official, and therefore warranting mention in the article, but it's still notable because it's more than just a layman proposing it, and I'll be keeping an eye on it. Update: Contact letter mentioned above was rejected, but now mayors of towns plus other government officials along the route have written one.

Should I-380 be in the infobox at the top? At this point it is just a proposal, and now an old one. Beirne (talk) 03:25, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Keeping at this point, ODOT hasn't agreed or disagreed publicly on the second proposal at this point. Cards84664 (talk) 11:38, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That means that the information has been speculative and incorrect for over two years. It never should have been in the infobox at the top to begin with. It is not I-380. If it is linked to other chains, it should be removed. Beirne (talk) 00:09, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find anything about the proposal after the April 29/30, 2014 article saying the mayors sent a letter asking for further consideration of making the expressway an interstate. It has now been nearly 2-1/2 years with no news about a response or any sign that ODOT is doing anything about the request. The infobox should not mislead people into thinking SR-8 is I-380. Beirne (talk) 03:54, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I got no reply so I went ahead and deleted I-380 from the infobox and fixed the pointers in state routes 379 and 380. Beirne (talk) 14:59, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
agree w/above, no reason to confuse the hell out of people Xenon54 (talk) 20:25, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Exit 0[edit]

Sorry about the revert, I should have at least made the change with a comment. I drove by the exit the other day and also noticed that it is now labeled exit 0A-B. It isn't in streetview because the numbering is brand new, but Exit 0 is there. A picture would help but getting it may be dangerous unless a passenger can take the picture. --Beirne (talk) 05:53, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Southern Terminus?
So you are saying it looks like this? Cards84664 (talk) 16:20, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's it. I drove by yesterday and checked. --Beirne (talk) 15:09, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a real picture

Weird choice of arrows by ODOT, I'm guessing the actual signs are temporary now. Either way, thanks for uploading! Cards84664 (talk) 19:27, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is the first branch of the exit. A bit farther is another pair of signs where people choose to go left or right.--Beirne (talk) 00:05, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
