Gay Icon Project[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Year of birth is incorrectly listed as 1938[edit]

IMDB lists her year of birth as 1948 -http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0525801/. According to her biography 'I Don't Want To Fight' she officially changed her name to Lulu Kennedy-Cairns in the early 2000's, adopting her mother's former family names.

American English or British English?[edit]

I've noticed that there is a mixture of American and British spellings. Given that she's from the UK, the Brit spelling is likely more appropriate.

I think WP:ENGVAR and WP:TIES cover the points you're addressing, including consistency within an article. I agree that the Brit spelling is more appropriate and that's the one I would pick. Details of Lulu's personal and family life, such as her marriages, are currently just part of her career chronology. Is there any advantage in creating a "Personal life" section? I was looking to place, for example, a general reference to her brother Billy Lawrie as covered here and her ancestry as covered here. Thanks. You frequently add stuff that is unverifiable and unreferenced.[3][4][5][6] Wikipedia has a couple of relevant policies which you might want to read at WP:Verifiability and WP:No original research. These are hard policies. Wikipedia contributors should not be writing from their own personal knowledge – should not be adding their own insights and analysis. My tone is stern but not abusive. To me it looks like you've been adding a lot of unreferenced stuff for a long time, along with some correctly referenced stuff, and some in-between hybrid edits where you cite a source but then draw your own conclusions and fold them in.

You wrote that either Lulu or one of her songs (it's not clear) got "very positive reviews on Juke Box Jury", but this is not supported by a cited source. From what source did you draw the fact?
