Name Change[edit]

Okay, possibly I'm clueless, but what's the obvious reason that the name was changed in the dub? Is it because "Maxamillion" just sounds cooler, or is it something else? Shmuel 19:17, 10 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I'm clueless too X_X WhisperToMe 03:30, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

24.77.209.160 was the one that added the somewhat obvious string. WhisperToMe 03:35, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

my interpretation of the "obviousness" was that changing the name to "maxamillion pegasus" makes "cecilia pegasus" fit the american marriage convention of the woman taking the man's last name. why the animators didn't change cecilia's name to crawford is up for grabs i suppose ... - algorythm
I don't think Cynthia even had a last name in the Japanese version. (Cynthia IS Cecelia) WhisperToMe 03:13, 8 Oct 2004 (UTC)

The name, my dear.[edit]

The important thing about Pegasus is that he is called Pegasus, as it is a name which matches both his hair and his effete manner. I think the reason behind the name change in the American version is that it would seem odd for Yugi-boy and his chums to call the man they hate by his first name all the time, hence Pegasus becomes his surname. Crawford J. Pegasus is a touch too flamboyant even for our frilly-cuffed villain, so he is given a new first name that is more suitable. I prefer Pegasus J. Crawford though. Reminds me of Draco Malfoy and Joan Crawford.

Of course. Seto Kaiba is simply called "Kaiba" by friend and foe. Pegasus is simply called "Pegasus" because of some American convention or something. It's the same way that Draco Malfoy is called "Malfoy" by Harry and friends. 71.111.209.99 14:07, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cyndia Crawford?[edit]

The person who put the explanation that Cyndia Crawford -> Cindy Crawford needs to think for a minute. It would be Cyndia/Cynthia Pegasus, not Crawford, in the dub.

No, her dub name is "Cecelia Pegasus". "Cindy Crawford" is a real person. WhisperToMe 00:40, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Depeche Mode?[edit]

I've been listening to Depeche Mode. The lead sounds so much like Pegasus that I have a sneaking suspicion that Darren Dunstan (Pegasus' dub actor) was in Depeche Mode before he went into acting. 71.111.209.99 15:51, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The other eye?[edit]

I always thought that Pegasus could just take out his Millienum Eye whenever he got tired of it (like when Yugi takes off his Puzzle before going to bed). Did Pegasus have that other eye or was it removed when he activated the Eye? 71.111.209.99 14:10, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops! Spacing error! Just let me fix that. Thank you. 71.111.209.99 14:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Shadi gauged out Pegasus' left eye and replaced it with the the Millennium Eye. Hope that answers your question. 213.166.17.12 09:22, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Other Toon monsters[edit]

Where does Pegasus use some of these cards? I've never seen him use Monster Reborn, Toon Cannon Soldier, Cost Down, Card of Sanctity, Toon Goblin Attack Force, or Ultimate Offering. Where does he uses these? User: Drake Clawfang, April 27 2006. 8:55 PM EST.

Change of Alignment[edit]

Seeing as how he's only evil in Season 1, can we move Pegasus from "Antaganist" to "Other Characters"? In Season 4, and in GX, he's a good guy for the most part.

Article name[edit]

  • Why does this article use the dub name while most of the other YGO characters use the original name? JuJube 06:03, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • The English pages for the original series use the manga names, and for some reason, Pegasus's dub name was used for the manga while the others had their Japanese names. Strange, yes, but meh. Drake Clawfang 07:10, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personality[edit]

If someone can tell me what exactly is original research/unverified in this section, I can try and find sources. I should be able to find sources from the manga relatively easily--it's the comments quoted from the English dub I'm concerned about. I remember hearing them, but I don't remember what episodes they were in. Miscellanium 22:51, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed some of the references to his personality and speaking patterns to make this section clearer, however, I am unsure as to how to cite the Japanese-language series as a whole as proof. As per whether Pegasus is American or not, I am not sure, and why this would have such an effect on his pronunciation is debatable. (I know as an American who has taken Japanese, I certainly don't say "deeeeesu" instead of "desu...") I have heard other characters with similar speech patterns, and they're usually just eccentric, not foreign. HJSoulma (talk) 18:32, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

American?[edit]

Are you sure he's American? I don't recall any references to his nationality, and everything about him, including the name (either name), seems very stereotypically English to me. (Compare the equally stereotypical American Keith Howard, and his name.) 75.67.166.170 (talk) 21:43, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's the English dub; the references to him being American refer to the original version. JuJube (talk) 02:28, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
