Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. February 2016[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Selenium (software). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. I don't mind you reinstating the non-reliable source, but the wording is still poor an needs to be clarified. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:45, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You can see my related discussion with Walter at User_talk:ImperfectlyInformed#February_2016. II | (t - c) 02:35, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I meant to do that. Jim Evans is a solid source for Selenium info. He's one of the primary contributors, as I said in the edit summary. Hence my removal of the {{citation needed}}. And thanks for the "welcome!", but you're about 12 years too late :-) RossPatterson (talk) 01:55, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Cat Stevens Numbers.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Cat Stevens Numbers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:25, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PROD[edit]

In cases of deletion of a WP:PROD, it says you can unilaterally deleted it, like this edit. However, you should honor it and reach consensus instead. Winterysteppe (talk) 02:11, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect, the Proposed Deletion concept is the opposite of reaching consensus. That's why it allows a veto by a single opposer. If you want to delete the article, take it to Articles for Deletion, where both sides get a fair hearing. RossPatterson (talk) 00:16, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Bronx Science article[edit]

Hi Ross,

Thanks for taking note on the Bronx Science article. I think it is better to add that note there. It's possible to use reference tags to add notes, as I've seen it used elsewhere.

Thanks,

Special:WantedTemplates[edit]

Hi! Would it be possible for you to add

/* <nowiki> */

to the top and

/* </nowiki> */

to the bottom of User:RossPatterson/Reorganize References.js? By putting these tags inside of javascript comments, it won't impact the functionality of your script, but it will keep the backend software from transcluding Template:Reflist refs=.... You will know if the tags worked if Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Reflist refs=... no longer shows your page. By fixing these, we can keep the number of entries in Special:WantedTemplates to a minimum. Thank you in advance for your help! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:57, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Mackerel -- howdy Ross! Today I was googling myself and BITNET and found an entry from you under LISTSERV in Wikipedia.
