In the "The Idiot's Guide to Understanding North Korea", p.110, the author talks about a 1993 dinner he had with KIS in which he confirmed that his mother was a practicing Presbyterian. Tuncrypt 16:15, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Communist politician?[edit]

How could Kim Hyong-jik have been a communist politician as the page claims, if the DPRK was not established till years after his death? Is there something I'm missing? –Benjamin 02:02, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Communist Party of Korea was founded in 1925, the year before Kim's death, so it is possible that he was a Communist politician (of some kind), but I've removed this because there is no citation for the claim.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:17, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

General Sherman Incident[edit]

Communist?[edit]

I'm skeptical about the claim that he was a communist. Kim's parents were centrist Korean Christian nationalists. There was a whole period of time when Kim had friction with his family because of his increasingly communist beliefs while in China toobigtokale (talk) 01:30, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
