Copyright problems with Image:Canal-Levee.jpg[edit]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Canal-Levee.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. Joss Whedon and Kitty Pryde[edit]

CyclopsScott, could you provide a source for your recent edit about Joss Whedon being heavily influenced by Kitty Pryde? And could you explain it a little better? I don't quite understand what you're trying to communicate. How could being influenced by a character cause someone to write the same character? It sounds like an ouroborous. ☺ Thanks. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 06:32, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More vandalism[edit]

This message is regarding the page Katie Holmes. Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. --Yamla 02:24, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I honestly thought you were trying to vandalise the article. Your information was not cited, we already mention that her name is "Kate" (after some debate on this), and there were several grammatical mistakes in your edit (granted, not necessarily a sign of vandalism), all on a page that gets a large amount of regular vandalism. However, I was clearly wrong here and I apologise. --Yamla 03:33, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings! You have edited the Katie Holmes page in the past. I've completely reworked the article and have posted it on WP:PR in the hopes of advancing it to WP:FAC. I would be grateful for your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/Katie Holmes/archive1. PedanticallySpeaking 18:40, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Sixwiredbop.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sixwiredbop.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or ask for help at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. Thank you. -- Carnildo 12:38, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

May God Bless You Always!

Hello,

I was going through Professional wrestlers and diva to tag those from Missouri with a Missouri Project Tag and I came across your article on Kay Noble. This was yesterday. Today, I notice that an unregister user has added a paragraph. Now I know nothing about this Kay Noble except what you Wrote. Would you please check what the IP Address wrote and tell me whether is is vandalism or not. Thank you.

Yours in Christ. (Steve 03:16, 15 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

A survey you might be interested in[edit]

Image tagging for Image:IllyriaAcker.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:IllyriaAcker.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Short Sleeve Sampson is white, Little Boogeyman is black[edit]

How the hell can Sampson (a white guy [1]) be Little Boogeyman? TJ Spyke 02:41, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was referencing an alternate link, and didn't research it fully. SOrry about that. No need to be that rude though. CyclopsScott 02:44, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not your fault, it's just been annoying since others keep adding it back in. TJ Spyke 02:51, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I took it out of Boogeyman's page as well, as Little Boogeyman was linked to Sampson there too (where I found it originally) CyclopsScott 02:53, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

marval comic[edit]

Well, your argument might support why your post is related to public interest. But do you seriously think the importance of your post is as significant as other like the Libby trial? Some comic hero dies! Big deal! If you insist on reposting this "news", you are free to do that. But other wikipedians who support my POV might delete your post again. 71.146.131.153 23:47, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The death of a fictional character is not news. KazakhPol 03:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
CNN is an acceptable source, but I still dont see why this is notable... I wont revert, but I urge you to explain why this is notable on the talkpage because I suspect, as 71 did, that other users will remove the story. Thank you for finding a better source. Regards, KazakhPol 03:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cyclops:

Wikipedia is not a corporate news agency. I strongly disagree that the fictional death of a comic book hero, however popular is worthy of the same WP Current Events coverage as realworld events such as the shakeup of the british govt or china deciding to send a man to the moon (50 years too late). Please think this through. WikiTony 05:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

To see how far things have come, from this 2007 Death of Captain America reaction basically driving me from bothering to edit anything on Wikipedia at any grand scale, to now where the news would absolutely be newsworthy because it is that, news, and not subject to an opinions on if something counts or not. The news wasn't "Cap died" it was "Marvel has killed its long running character in a publishing event." Just like DC and Superman in the 90's. Anyway this was fun to look back on. IC title and relations[edit]

Owen and Bret were not Stepbrother to Davey Boy Smith. They were Brother-in-law to him, as he married their sister Diana, and the Dynamite Kid was Davey Boy's cousin, and he married Bret's wife's sister, making him Brother-in-law to Bret's first wife, but not anyone else in the Hart family. Plus Edge married Val Venis's sister, not Val married Edge's sister, so again they were Brother-in-law. However none of that information is worth mentioning. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:E SLEE001CVR proof5.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:E SLEE001CVR proof5.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:42, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Katia Corriveau, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:IWGPWorldHWchampions requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Respect Thread Conversions[edit]

I'm looking for folks to help convert Respect Threads to wiki formatting on Project Fanboy: WikiFans. Respect Threads, showcase scans of feats performed by comic book characters and have gained an audience on several comic book message boards. A few other wiki editors and myself are trying to convert them from the unprofessional look of a bunch of posts on a message board to the formatting common with WikiMedia wiki's. To view an example of what we're doing, here is a link to Respect Silver Surfer.

I was wondering if you might have time to contribute your comic book knowledge and/or scans of comic book characters performing feats, and help us out with our Respect Articles project?Millennium Cowboy (talk) 02:50, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the WikiProject D&D talk page for more details. :) BOZ (talk) 18:20, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Liberty Girl[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Liberty Girl, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Fictional character without evidence of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (File:Libertygirl0cover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Libertygirl0cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:22, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello CyclopsScott! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 1,575 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Fair use rationale for File:BigInJapancvr.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:BigInJapancvr.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:56, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Ufc127onsalepromo.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Ufc127onsalepromo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:58, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Qaeda of Jihad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
