Battle of Leuthen

1757 – Seven Years' War: Prussian troops under Frederick the Great defeated Austrian forces at the Battle of Leuthen (pictured).
1807 – Napoleonic Wars: British ships began a raid on Griessie after the Dutch captain refused a British demand for surrender.
1918 – National Guards and Sokol volunteers protested in Zagreb, leading to an armed clash with regiments of the Home Guard and former Common Army.
1933 – The prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States at the federal level ended when the Twenty-first Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, repealing the Eighteenth Amendment.
1958 – Britain's first motorway, the Preston By-pass, opened to the public.

Original article stated "US Army Air Force begins attacks" but the linked article clearly states RAF and RCAF involvement (to a greater degree than USAAF). The establishment of the first collegiate fraternity (now one of the most respected honor societies) at one of the oldest universities in the United States is clearly listworthy per WP:DOY. Kinu: Thanks for trying to keep the daily list interesting. I saw this little conflict and followed your link to a previous version of today's list, and I see that after all, the Phi Beta Kappa note was deleted, as well as the first broadcast day for Monty Python. Speaking for myself, I like the On This Day section because it sometimes spurs my interest to do a bit of reading in an area I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Seeing the anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa's creation, or the Monty Python first broadcast would have been very welcome for me. What's left after their deletion is a list mainly of politicians and battles. I'm disappointed.Cellodont (talk) 14:45, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I reluctantly removed the following events:

1914 – The Italian Parliament proclaims the neutrality of the country.
1976 – The United Nations General Assembly adopts Pakistan's resolution on security of non-Nuclear States.
1983 – ICIMOD is established and inaugurated with its headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal, and legitimised through an Act of Parliament in Nepal in the same year.

Death of Jayalalithaa[edit]

The article includes the death of J. Jayalalithaa, but according to the article on Jayalalithaa, she died on December 4. Should it be moved to the December 4 page? The section J Jayalalithaa#Illness, death and reactions says "On 5 December 2016, the hospital announced her death around 23:30 and she became the first female chief minister to die in office in India" so I'm reluctant to move it myself.
