Souvenir ‘78’?[edit]

The article maintains, “"Souvenir" features the sound of a 78 rpm record towards the end of the track.” - it may sound 78-like, but it isn’t, it’s the sound of Paul’s singing recorded on a digital keyfob; the story is here: https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/song/souvenir/ Jock123 (talk) 13:47, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the editor was referring to the 'groove' noise that is often present on records regardless of speed. The link you shared was a nice look at the process used to get to the finished product. Thanks! THX1136 (talk) 16:31, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Archive Collection Info[edit]

@Indopug: I think you may have been overzealous in removing the section about the 2020 Archive Collection release; you said in the edit summary that it's too long but it matches the other pages for albums with an Archive Collection release. The information isn't presented uniformly across all the articles, but it is present in all of them. Would you be against adding that back? 2601:600:C700:48F:B9A6:8C50:FD18:A799 (talk) 06:06, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IMO tracklists should be succinct. Every 10 or 20 years albums seem to be re-released in deluxe or super-deluxe or archive editions with additional tracks and videos and interviews. Being only a general-purpose encyclopedia, Wikipedia is not the place to record every single thing that features on these deluxe editions (just as we don't track the addenda on every new edition of Romeo and Juliet). As for consistency, I believe such sections should be removed for other McCartney albums as well. I am not opposed, however, to discussion in the article about the Archive ("The Archive Collection edition of the album was released in abc. It features xyz and was well received by the media etc.").—indopug (talk) 07:15, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I'm aware it's pretty standard for album articles to show bonus tracks or extra tracks released as part of a deluxe edition; I find myself regularly consulting Wikipedia for that sort of information. The article style advice page for WP:Albums even mentions how to format them at the bottom of this section. As far as I can tell this sort of thing seems to be standard practice, and it seems to me that not including this sort of material in the track listing should be a larger discussion as it would affect a large number of albums. 2601:600:C700:48F:B9A6:8C50:FD18:A799 (talk) 08:30, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that adding bonus tracks as described above is standard here. And the sections can be collapsable. Design (talk) 12:30, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and added the content back for now. 2601:600:C700:48F:D95A:B209:C35E:FA69 (talk) 01:26, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Background: "[The Beatles Anthology...][edit]

...was originally titled The Long and Winding Road, named after the Beatles song of the same name."

Not only is this clumsy English, to say the least, but how is this relevant to Flaming Pie? 89.10.135.104 (talk) 19:36, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nicky Hopkins on Same Love[edit]

I'm not sure how to prove that Nicky Hopkins plays on Same Love other than by showing an image of the page of the booklet that accompanied the album that gives his name: https://musicbrainz.org/release/f841c20d-f616-47c9-a051-e02400638b87/cover-art Johnalexwood (talk) 21:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
