Judeo-Islamic tradition means something very specific, not simply what the two religions have in common. In fact, it covers a whole gamut of cultural endeavors and is more geographic than anything else. That said, a comparison of Judaism and Islam as religions does not belong here. Now, before anyone launches a lengthy harangue about my changes, I suggest they read the foreword to Bernard Lewis's The Jews of Islam, which is precisely about this topic ... and Lewis is a fairly recognized authority on it. - I don't have a problem with Danny's total rewrite of the article. The content of any article must match the title of the article. However, the content of this article had turned into an enirely different subject, a comparison of Islamic religious beliefs with Jewish religious beliefs. Now, that may well be a good idea for an article, but it has little to do with the subject. Maybe we should create an article on Comparing Islam and Judaism, just like we already have an article on Comparing and contrasting Judaism and Christianity.
- Since you have given this page a new direction, should it now be merged with the already extant article on Islam and Judaism? (Once merged, one of these article can be turned into a re-direct.) RK 21:23, Nov 15, 2003 (UTC)
