Any relation to Jean Claude Marie Vincent de Gournay, a French economist mentioned in Bureaucracy article? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 10:48, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I edited the page to improve the flow and grammar. It had a very "translated from French" feel to it. I've checked with a Montaigne expert for certain sections. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teebol (talkcontribs) 10:24, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Richelieus pension[edit]

Weigand tells us in his 1911 Montaigne biography - referring to Tallemant des Réaux -, that Richelieu gave a pension not only to her, but also to her handmaid and - to her cat "Peillon"! Such information might by some not be considered worthy of an encyclopedia, but in my understanding it should not be withheld from the reader, as it is not only highly entertaining, but certainly throws a - be it ever so stroboscopic - light on the customs of the time with regard to "domestics" and domestic animals, and, last not least, on the character of Richelieu... --Terminally uncool (talk) 12:33, 9 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
