A high school with not yet 10 years' history and which has closed down. Though mentioned as "unique" I can't see anything with the school that distinguish it from another. No notable alumni. Mandel 10:07, Oct 11, 2004 (UTC)

  • I can see things that made it notable on a local level, while it existed. Open classroom public schools are a real minority. At the same time, they're just a minority. Instead of there being 20,000 schools just like it, there are probably 200 just like it, if it still existed. Since it was 1:200 or thereabouts in the US, and since it folded, it is not notable. It hadn't enough years for illustrious alums, doesn't seem to have affected its area to adopt more schools with that pedagogical model, and is written here as a memorial. Delete. • I'll just like to mention it gets 2 hits from Google, both from Wikipedia. Mandel 04:24, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Fails to meet the high bar for school notability. --Improv 17:51, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Wouldn't it be simpler to make high schools an automatic subcat of [[Category:VfD]]? — Bill 21:49, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. It is notable not be virtue of its size or duration, but by virtue of its unique and very rare philosophical contributions. If it were just a typical local high school, I also would be voting "delete." It certainly is notable enough to be contained with the breadth of this encyclopedia. Colin 21:42 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
    • To be honest, this merely means not using exams and texts as school grades criteria. Part of the reason it closed down, I believed? (Failure of system?) Mandel 04:23, Oct 12, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep it. Intrigue 17:14, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. I'm intrigued, but such experiments are not new. Article does not establish sufficent notability. Gamaliel 06:39, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete - Not sufficiently notable. Probably need an article on Open classroom schools generally though. --Jll 20:42, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • keep From the article: Rather than relying on tests and grades to measure student progress, the New School High School or NSHS abolished these practices and instead centered on individualized learning. I think that makes it sufficienty notable to deserve keeping Cabalamat 21:56, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
  • Hi. I continue to maintain that the very unique characteristics of this school certainly make it eligible for an article here in wikipedia. We have to remember that wikipedia was meant to be more inclusive than an encyclopedia like Britannica. That's the attraction of it. There is no valid reason for us to remove this from wikipedia, exactly for the reason that this type of important information is available in few other places. I would like to thank everyone who has voted to keep this for their support of wikipedia's integrity and inclusive policy.Colin 15:29 14 Oct 2004 (UTC)
