Bankruptcy

My interest in bankruptcy is professional, my practice is concentrated in that area. My poorly-designed web page. In that we've inherited so much law from the mother country I'm certain I can apply whatever bits I manage to learn about British insolvency practice in my own practice. Dennis the Menace and Gnasher

I'm curious about your recent edits to Image:Dennis the menace.JPG and Image:Gnasher.JPG- I'm pretty sure Toby Marshman is just the name of the person who uploaded the pictures to Wikipedia, not the person who actually drew them. That would be David Sutherland. BillyH 17:24, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I used m:Help:Tableand Wikipedia:How to use tables extensively, and copied from existing tables such as in Comparison of instant messengers, and changed the data I put in the table. I'm not sure what you mean by the summary contents table. If you mean the table of contents, if you use headings this gets added automatically. Hope this helps! Talrias 10:54, Jan 31, 2005 (UTC)

AEJ Collins

I noticed it was missing from WP:FAC, so looked at the featured article log and unsuccessful log (the links are towards the top of the WP:FAC page). AEJ Collins, along with Sikkim and Space Race had been entered in the featured article log by User:Raul654 (who decides on FA status), but he'd stopped there. So I've taken the liberty of adding all three articles to Wikipedia:Featured articles and noting their new status on their talk pages.

Robert Newman (actor)

I saw you edit the Crossroads article so I figured you'd be interested in this sort of thing. You nominated him a while ago, and he's an actor on an American soap called Guiding Light. It's probably the most prestigious show that's on the air here, and it's gotten distinction from the Guinness Book as being the longest "story" ever told. I just figure you should know.

I replied to your comment on my talk page. I just looked at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Keith Wigdor, and your vote shows up (and it looks like you edited it twice with no change of text). Perhaps it was a cache problem on your end, and you didn't see your edit? Perhaps try reloading the page. Have you had that problem elsewhere on Wikipedia? I probably will not be able to post you a pack of Clodhoppers. My friend had a hard enough time trying to get them into the U.S. He only prevailed when he lied to the customs officer and said they were homemade. It would be even harder getting them overseas. Hi there. Regarding the naming of pages: I can totally understand the confusion that you've come across. I'll try and outline the current naming conventions:

• Places in the UK (and most other countries) are at placename unless a clash of names appears. If that happens then placename may be a disambiguation page or the most commonly known city. To get around a clash the name is therefore sometimes given as placename, county.
• Places in the US and Australia are always at placename, county.

Basically the decision is based on a per-country basis. Since the US usually include the state anyway it was decided that the standard policy should reflect that. It was decided that Australia should match it, but that the UK shouldn't. Silly, eh? Hope that clears it up for you. violet/riga (t) 08:21, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

The reason for the lack of consistency is that the policies are made by us, the people with accounts on Wikipedia. Everyone that wants to can support or oppose a proposal, admins like violetriga have no greater say than newbies who joined up yesterday.

Issues are raised by one concerned person, or perhaps by a group of like-minded people. Usually this happens first on a talk page somewhere and the issue will be discussed from every angle. Sooner or later the discussion may be moved to a dedicated area and voted on over a period of time.

Once something has become a formal policy in this way it's generally expected that everyone will stick to what was agreed. It's always open to anyone to reopen the discussion of course, particularly if circumstances have changed.

In the place names policy, it was probably agreed that countries and regions differed enough that they should decide for themselves what was best. There would have been a UK discussion and you can probably find it if you feel inclined. The best places to start would be Wikipedia:Naming conventions and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (city names) where there's a section on United Kingdom places]].

Regarding your Snowtown map, thanks for doing that. Might I suggest zooming it out to cover all of Australia, to give some more context? Few people outside Australia would know SA that well for it to be really useful.

Well, if you look at the first line under it says tag on your userpage it looks like this: "[[User:User:Brookie|Brookie]]\^{[[User_talk:Brookie|talk]]}" (my emphasis), so it turns up as a redlink.
