Current events and sources[edit]

Current Events page requires that one adds a source of the news (in this case, for example, Reuters) - Skysmith 11:55, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Re: HI[edit]

Hello, thanks for the maessage. I notice you're from the Alicante province. I went on holliday there a few years ago and stayed at Denia and Altea. Your English is much better then my Spanish :). About the digussions thing, actually it was a spelling mistake, thanks for pointing it out I hadn't noticed. G-Man 22:17, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Maps[edit]

Good work on the referendum maps, they really improve the article. I'm interested in why the yes vote was lower in Catalonia than in the rest of Spain. Is it because the EU won't recognise Catalan as an official language? That's the only thing I can think of. The Basques didn't seem very keen on it either. I wonder why this was. — Trilobite (Talk) 13:40, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hola Carlos and thanks for explaining. I should have realised the secessionist parties campaigning against it would have had an effect. I'm from England since you ask. The referendum here will probably be in about a year's time and much harder to win (I will be voting yes) because the main opposition party is officially campaigning against it (a few of the top people support it but not enough of them) and some of the tabloid newspapers are unfortunately quite anti-European. It will be a close one I think. Interestingly the Welsh and Scottish nationalists and secessionists (Plaid Cymru and the SNP) tend to be more pro-European than the central British government over here. Anyway you seem to be translating your ideas into English very well. I can just about get by speaking Spanish and I can read it ok, but I'm not good enough to be able to write whole Wikipedia articles in Spanish without making mistakes. You seem to be doing fine in English. Regards. — Trilobite (Talk) 15:01, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

En mirar l'historial me'n he adonat que sí, i per açò m'he adreçat cap a tu.

--Martorell 15:49, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Re: Spanish transition to democracy[edit]

Sorry for responding slowly to your message. I have been too busy with exams to work on wikipedia. Now, I'm finished though. I'll have a short break to work on the translation of the Spanish transition to democracy article. I started the translation to practice for a trip to Spain I am taking in a week. So, I probably will not get much done before then, and then I'll have to take a longer break. If you want to help with the translation, I'm working on the second section now. Feel free to work on other sections, of course. If you want to work jointly, let me know. I could edit your sections or vice versa. --Bkwillwm 04:15, 15 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

English correction[edit]

your page says you'd like to be apprised when someone corrects your English. I changed the sentence "It is also remarkable its Moros i Cristians festival." to "Also remarkable is its Moros i Cristians festival." in the article on Crevillent. The first sentence seems to have two subjects "it" and "its festival", which is not allowed for English sentences. diff

Grasshopper Page[edit]

Why was the photo gallery on the grasshopper page removed? I can see no reason why the photos on the old page (Grasshopper) shouldn't be included in the new version. That photo from fotoclipart.com Image:Greengrasshopper.jpg is useless compared to the old ones. --Fir0002 07:26, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

No I was the one who created the gallery - my edits were lost when most of the info was moved from Caelifera to Grasshopper (see the caelifera history. I think it should be returned. What do you think? --Fir0002 12:03, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Alcoi 1925.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Alcoi 1925.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Thuresson 20:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Untagged image[edit]

An image you uploaded, Image:Cocentaina.png, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 01:15, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Image:Las_Supremas_de_Móstoles.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Las_Supremas_de_Móstoles.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 18:26, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:Alicante[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Alicante requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Pince Nez (talk) 06:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:MareNostrumReal.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:MareNostrumReal.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Samulili (talk) 13:54, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Moros i cristians2.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Moros i cristians2.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Kelly hi! 00:04, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Barcelona Supercomputer Center.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The article Higüey has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There has never been a province in the Dominican Republic named "Higüey". Also, there is no Wikipedia article about the Taíno chiefdom and its present-day mention is merely academic as Taínos had no written history, so a hypotetical article about the chiefdom should use the template {{For}} in the city's article instead of needing a disambiguation page. Therefore this disambiguation page is unnecessary. Note that an unsubscribed user pointed this previously in 2014 on this edit: Special:Diff/632583627.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
