Re: University of Limerick[edit]

Dowlingm, Thanks for pointing that out. I was using Humanbot and did not mean to remove the +. I'm not sure why it did that, but I guess I'll have to start paying much closer attention to humanbot edits. I put the + back in its proper place. Nadavspi | talk 03:58, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK/Wikimania 2006[edit]

Hi, this is a circular to Wikipedians in Ireland to draw your attention to Wikimedia UK, where the establishment of a local Wikimedia chapter for the United Kingdom (and possibly for the Republic of Ireland) is being discussed. See the talk page, as well as the mailing list; a meetup will take place to discuss matters in London in September, for anyone who can get there. On another topic, plans are being drawn up for a UK bid for Wikimania 2006, which would be conveniently close to Ireland. On the other hand, Dublin's bid was one of the final three last year - might we bid again? --Kwekubo 03:51, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RE: TTC[edit]

Hi! Thanks for your comment; I regret removing it, but I felt it was getting too detailed for inclusion in the overview article. While the other lines are major planned extensions (that hopefully result in something), the RT note is merely an upgrade in addition to the plethora of other upgrades the TTC is undertaking.

If you feel strongly about it, post a comment on the TTC talk page or make a brief note in the article. That's my two cents. Thoughts? Thanks! E Pluribus Anthony 14:08, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Knock Airport[edit]

Hi, you should have moved the existing article Knock International Airport to Ireland West Airport Knock instead of creating the latter with redirect to the former. I've put up a Wikipedia:Requested moves application to have this done. --Damac 07:47, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

DCU[edit]

Hey Dowlingm. I note that you either went to or are going to DCU. I'm almost certainly going to put DCU down as the no.1 on my CAO form this year and was wondering could you tell me one or two things?

  • At the open day I was under the impression that the Larkfield Apartments are more for first years, whereas the Hampstead Apartments are for 2nd/3rd/4th years. Is this true? Or is it more of a mix?
  • What did you study there? What did you think of the whole thing? Any regrets or gripes? You know how much marketing goes on on the open day and i'm sure lots was hidden from our view! So any info is appreciated!

(In advance!) Thanks a million Dowlingm, I really appreciate your time and comments! CGorman 21:47, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, no problem. Thanks. CGorman 20:23, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Canada[edit]

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 02:06, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Toronto Port Authority[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you have edited the Toronto Port Authority article in the past. The article is again at an impasse over a claim of NPOV by User:Kdickson. If you have the time, please read the article and make any comments on the discussion page. The article is currently locked from editing. Alaney2k (talk) 22:58, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rail transport in Ireland[edit]

Hi. I notice you are currently editing Rail transport in Ireland with some edits marked as "to reduce length of Rail Transport in Ireland". I agree that the article is too long, but in January, I suggested that the "Passenger services" section be split into a new article titled Rail passenger services in Ireland (see Talk:Rail transport in Ireland#Moving the "Routes and overview" section). Any thoughts (please reply either here or on the article's talk page)? Tim PF (talk) 00:20, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TimPF - I don't see the objectives as mutually exclusive, the previous creation of the Suburban Rail stubs by others took the content in a direction which I am reinforcing with these edits which fill out the stubs and bring a bit of consistency within the Suburban parts of RTIL. PRTIL could fulfill a similar function for mainline services perhaps? Dowlingm (talk) 00:25, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, now I've read that and had a better look at what you have been doing, I can see it should solve the original problem in a different way. If the same can be done for the RoI Intercity routes, NI routes and Enterprise, there won't be enough left for a separate Rail passenger services in Ireland article. I think that the "Passenger services" section will be able to lose most of its third level headings (probably replaced by some bulleted lists along with the {{main}} tags), and will end up somewhat longer than my proposal, but without the unnecessary additional article. Disambiguation link notification for March 16[edit]

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
