Enormous scope for improvement, major reformatting via sections and dedicated links — Graibeard 01:07, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I've ended up at this article a few times and it's always bugged me, so I finally tried to make some edits. Removed what looked like a spam link, cleaned up the writing a bit, and removed some unsourced facts that didn't seem relevant anyway. Hopefully it's at least a start. — Kadin2048 (talk) 04:49, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

I agree with graibeard. Title "machine press" is not in common usage. "Press" with perhaps a disambiguation word in parentheses would be preferable. Wilhkar (talk) 21:20, 21 February 2010 (UTC)wilhkar[reply]

Yeah, it's a possibility. Right now, there is only one ref, so I'd like to see more refs so I could get a feel for the terminology across multiple publications. Wizard191 (talk) 17:05, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, particularly about the title; "mechanical press" would be a start, but no one says that, either, because all presses are in some way mechanical; so how about "Press (mechanical)" or "Press (machine)", since obviously another common, derived use is for the (news) media? Also, I think the article should cover all types of press, with a special reference and link, of course, to "Printing press" Maelli (talk) 12:38, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
