This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Pronunciation[edit]

The pronunciation given, ce·rise: se-rs, -rez, is just nonsense. This is not to say it's wrong just meaningless. It should be given in IPA (& X-SAMPA). - Jimp 24May05

Cerise is not a real colour. It originated in the highlands of South-Eastern Greece in the mid eighteenth century. Referring to the serenity experienced at twilight on a high-tide on Mount Athens. Cherry red / cherry pink[edit]

Someone suggested that "cerise" is "cherry red", which I think is wrong, as it doesn't look like the red of common red cherries [1], nor does it look like it is "cherry red" [2][3][4] "cerise" looks like it is a different shade of red (of pink) from "cherry red" (of red). Yes, I do know that "cerise" means "cherry" in French, but this is English, where borrowed French words can mean completely different things. So if cherry red (color) / cherry red (colour) ever becomes a redirect here, it should be deleted. -- 65.92.247.90 (talk) 23:59, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
