Extinct?[edit]

Having befriended one Cassie Westenra-Rossmore, a Canadian of Irish extraction, I wondered if the Rossmore barony is still active. Seeing as the article doesn't clarify as to the continuance of the title, and my dear friend bearing an uncannily similar name, I would like to know: Is the Rossmore title extinct?

The 7th Baron (in the Irish peerage) and 6th Baron (in the UK peerage), one William Warner Westenra, is alive and has an heir born in 1983. So the barony's not extinct. - Nunh-huh 02:20, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The heir to the Rossmore barony is alive and sitting on my sofa eating tiramisu. So the barony's not extinct, unless I poison it. Chiinners 22:50 28 Apr 2007 (UTC)
If that's true, then someone ought to change the article; it states the 7th Baron died in 1931.
It states he was BORN in 1931
It does now, but it didn't when that comment was made. Proteus (Talk) 10:40, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So is there a UK and Irish title of Rossmore? --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 18:27, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So there is, it could be clearer in the article though. --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 18:30, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Curious[edit]

How come ThePeerage.com lists the following, which is at variance with the titles on Wikipedia:

  • [1] William Warner Westenra, 6th/7th Baron Rossmore of Monaghan (born 14 February 1931); son is Hon. Benedict William Westenra (born 6 March 1983)
  • [2] William Westenra, 5th/6th Baron Rossmore of Monaghan (born 12 July 1892, died 17 October 1958)
  • [3] Derrick Warner William Westenra, 4th/5th Baron Rossmore of Monaghan (born 7 February 1853 - died 31 January 1921)
  • Warner Westenra (presumably 3rd/4th Baron Rossmore of Monaghan)
  • Henry Robert Westenra, 2nd/3rd Baron Rossmore of Monaghan (born 24 August 1792, died 1 December 1860)
  • Warner William Westenra, 1st/2nd Baron Rossmore of Monaghan (born 14 October 1765, died 10 August 1842)
What are 1st/2nd, 2nd/3rd, 3rd/4th, 4th/5th, 5th/6th and 6th/7th supposed to mean??
Also, according to ThePeerage.com, the current Baron was living in County Monaghan as of 2003, so the castle may have been demolished, but apparently a new castle or at least some sort of dwelling must have been rebuilt there. Quis separabit? 20:47, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
