This is a well-written general account of obesity, but should be trimmed down to reflect its title, with the remainder being a candidate for merge with the main obesity article. JFW | T@lk 23:33, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I don't think this article is particularly well written. It also pushes a non-fault POV. And the use of "environmental" is unusual! All that needs to be said is said already at obesity. Merge what needs to be saved into that article and delete would be my suggestion. Paul Beardsell 13:26, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Environmental causes[edit]
How can choosing to take less exercise and choosing to eat fast food be considered an "environmental cause"? Only if people are not responsible for their own actions. That obesity is a disease according to some in the rich West is so that drugs can be prescribed! (You cannot get a drug approved unless it is for a "disease".) Thirty years ago it wasn't a disease! What's changed? Personal behaviour. As the article says: We eat more, we eat more rubbish, we exercise less. The article also says our behaviour has not changed! Contradiction. Doubtless there are also "environmental causes" BUT what are they? Paul Beardsell 02:50, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
