Surely it ended much later than 1993...I know it was replaced by the Tweenies, but the internet just reveals a lot of websites that disagree with each other as to when Playdays ended (probably due to the constant repeats). Also, not all of the stops arrived at the same time. The Dot Stop was replaced with the Playground Stop at one point, and, later on, the Tent Stop was replaced with the Poppy Stop. As to when, though, is a mystery. BillyH 15:07, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It did it was still around in 1997. TAS 18:54, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
The Dot Stop wasn't replaced with the Playground Stop. They were both in the original set. The original stops were Why Bird (Monday), Playground (Tuesday), Dot (Wednesday), Patch (Thursday) and Tent (Friday). (I had to look up Friday's stop, but I remember the other four from the time.) There were a few special stops from time to time like the Christmas Tree Stop. I've a recollection of there being a Fairground Stop at least once. But it's strange that there isn't any info in the article about the individual stops. — Smjg (talk) 22:54, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Some Comments[edit]

I remember watching it when I was 6, and I was born in 1990, so it must have kept on going. If I remember correctly there were over 3000 episodes. Now, if they showed around 300 a year (there was the dice stop on saturday and I think that there was another one) it would last them 10 years. Which would fit in with what you said about it going until 1999. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.92.106.157 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was born in 1989 and ever since I can remember I watched this programme. I have a tape from about 1996 where there are three later episodes of the programme on. But I'm sure that it finished being broadcasted in 1997+, or were these just repeats? And also since Ellie Darville and Sue Monroe aren't very notable as actors, is there really a need for links from their names? Cepb 12:43, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was still being repeated as late as a few years back, but the last new episodes were definitely in 1997. I used the BBC Programme Catalogue to check, which was only online for a while but it listed every episode and it's original airdate. BillyH 13:31, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Day of the Roundabout[edit]

This is purely based on hazy childhood memories, but I could swear blind that I always looked forward to the roundabout stop on Wednesdays. U-Mos 19:18, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thursday and Friday[edit]

I don't know enough to write about it, but the article does not give any information about what was shown on Thursday and Friday other than the names of the stops. 82.43.155.134 (talk) 17:06, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which spelling for the Why/Wye Bird?[edit]

I don't wish to start a religious war here, however the page [1] on Mimics Productions where they show off their puppetry handiwork uses the spelling Wye. Admittedly they use Why elsewhere on their site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.17.17.33 (talk) 20:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fairly sure it's 'Why', as in the question. Makes sense. TalkIslander 21:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Patch Stop[edit]

Wasn't the Patch Stop originally Sam Patch - (a knitted scare crow doll), before Peggy? - can't find a reliable source but tvcream & a bbc hhhg thread mention him http://www.tvcream.co.uk/?p=2336http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbcbeebies/html/F2704763?thread=5903398 Don't know how early they changed it, they had a pattern for Sam Patch in Women's Weekly and mentioned he was from playdays(might still have been playbus) but don't remember seeing him in the programme - once if that. (but mine was a Worzle so it must've been when the original Worzel Gummidge series was still being repeated) 109.224.137.121 (talk) 02:24, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why Bird[edit]

Is there a source for the claim that the Why Bird was 'A Goldfinch'? I do not remember its species ever being stated and its size is was much too big to be a goldfinch. Dunarc (talk) 22:47, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed this unsourced information. Aiken D 23:02, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
