  • Delete and merge into Narcotics Anonymous. Wikisource may still be worthwhile. TPK 06:49, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete and transwiki, merge to Narcotics Anonymous if that article needs it. The twelve step creeds are somewhat the same, so if we have an article on Twleve step programs that contains the template, we may need only a wiki-link to that from the NA article. Geogre 12:30, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • I understand the reasoning for wanting to delete the page. There are only four words which differ between the entry in 12_steps and Twelve_Steps_of_Narcotics_Anonymous. Unfortunately, they are potentially four very strong words: Addiction, Alcohol, Alcoholics, and Addicts. The differences in how one identifies themselves as either an addict or as an alcoholic determines which twelve step program they might feel more comfortable attending. Many alcoholics are adamant that they are not addicts, just as there are many addicts who wouldn’t consider themselves alcoholic. This is the reason why Narcotics Anonymous was formed. I believe there are people who are applying the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as people applying the Twelve Steps of Narcotics Anonymous. There may be subtle differences on how the steps are applied depending on which program you belong to. Besides learning how to add material to Wikipedia, this is the reason why I added the new page. I respect whatever outcome prevails. User:Jeffrey_Rea
    • Thank you- I hadn;t thought of that problem. Youre quite right. Perhaps we could just change the article on 12-step programs so that it isn't so specific to a single issue, but is more general; and the particular information (on alcohol, or narcotics, or other things) can be in the individual articles on the organizations (Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, etc) -FZ 00:50, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)
    • Thank you User:Jeffrey_Rea for your comments. I believe that, so far, everyone has been in favor of preserving the twelve steps of N.A. in our Wikisource project, but not in our main encyclopedia space. However, I think we are all also in agreement that the Narcotics Anonymous article should like to the 12_steps article and perhaps point out, within it, the differences of its pledge and their importance. I hope we can count on you to do this last. Geogre 01:43, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)
      • No need. It'll roll off on its own at the end of the 5 days. You should feel free to be bold in your editing. We've all got each others' backs. Welcome to Wikipedia. Geogre 00:54, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)
